Amazon’s new SP-API - now also provides Vendor Central data

Amazon committed to transfer all usual functionalities of the Marketplace Web Services to the Amazon Selling Partner API. Thus, the Amazon SP-API also grants access to all order, shipping, FBA, inventory and payment data and the corresponding reports. In addition, the SP-API finally also covers Vendor Central APIs. Thus, all Amazon Vendor Central users will now also benefit from automated access to their Amazon Business data. Furthermore, both Amazon Seller Central and Vendor Central users will get more than 10 new endpoints as part of the SP-API.

How to integrate with the new Amazon Selling Partner API

From a technical point of view, the Amazon SP-API is a bundle of all Amazon REST APIs accessed via JSON design standard. Data Virtuality has many years of experience developing and maintaining REST API connectors. We have naturally applied this to the development of an Amazon Selling Partner API data connector. You find this Amazon SP-API connector beside our Amazon Vendor connector and our Amazon Advertising connector in our Pipes solution.

To test our latest Amazon API connector extensively you can start a 14-day free trial of Pipes at any time. Whether you are an Amazon Seller or Vendor, with Pipes you can explore the advantages of the Amazon SP-API already today.

How to migrate from Amazon MWS to the SP-API

Migrating from MWS to SP-API is made much easier with the appropriate ready-to-use data connector from Pipes. However, there is something to keep in mind when re-creating your Amazon data flows.

Amazon decided that the efficiency of the SP-API, like the naming of the API sections, should reflect the present day situation better. Due to these differences between the SP-API and the MWS, there will be compatibility issues when migrating to the Selling Partner API. The data, while representing the same objects, e.g. orders, financial events, inventory items, etc., is provided by the new Amazon API in a different way.

Consequently, it will not be possible to reconfigure existing data pipelines from the new SP-API connector into existing tables populated by the MWS connector. Because of this, migration to the new connector, and the new API, requires that the current Amazon MWS data pipelines for the SP-API be re-created from scratch.

See here how the MWS API sections map to the SP-API operations:
